GAME PREVIEW - Saskatchewan Rush vs. Calgary Roughnecks

Dec 3, 2025

We are back for our first game of the regular season against the Calgary Roughnecks on Co-op Field in SaskTel Centre, Saturday, April 26th at 7:00 PM.

Last season, we finished the regular season with a 13-5 record and advanced all the way to Game 3 of the finals against the Buffalo Bandits. In the regular season, the team was led by Zach Manns and Austin Shanks, who tied for the team lead with 35 goals on the season, while Robert Church led the team with 5.2 points per game. Frank Scigliano led the NLL with a 9.40 goals against average and took home the Goaltender of the Year award, while Matt Hossack earned the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Head Coach Jimmy Quinlan also earned Coach of the Year honours, and Derek Keenan won the GM of the Year award.

The Roughnecks enter the season with a new look, having lost longtime stars Curtis Dickson, Jesse King, and Dane Dobbie in the offseason. The team now looks to its future, led by Tanner Cook (30g/40a in 2025) and an assortment of young talent to take another step this season.

The “Battle of the Prairies” is one of the biggest rivalry games for the Rush every season. Since 2016, 10 of the 27 games these two teams have played have been decided by 2 goals or fewer, with 3 of those games being decided in Overtime.

Faceoff from Co-op Field is at 7:00 PM Sask time. Viewers in Canada can watch the game on NLL+ and TSN+, with those in America on ESPN+ and Peachtree Sports Network with Cody Janzen, John Fraser and Heather Morrison on the call.
