PREVIEW: Saskatchewan vs Albany (Nov.30)
Nov 28, 2024Albany, NY – Saturday evening, the Saskatchewan Rush open the regular season on the road against the Albany FireWolves inside MVP Arena.
Saskatchewan is coming off a 2-0 preseason which included wins over Las Vegas (13-8) and Toronto (11-9). Robert Church scored four goals in each contest, while Brock Haley had three goals in the win over the Desert Dogs. Thomas Kiazyk and Frank Scigliano both picked up wins between the pipes, while Jake Naso went 73% at the stripe. The Rush will be without defender Connor McClelland who is on the IR with an upper-body injury.
Returnees and Rookies: Saskatchewan’s roster features a loaded mix of veterans with over 1200 combined NLL games played to mentor the four newcomers in Levi Anderson, Brock Haley, Matt Acchione and Jake Naso on the active roster.
Albany went through November’s exhibition slate with a record of 1-2, defeating Halifax 20-9 thanks to a five-goal performance by Travis Longboat. The wolves lost 14-10 and 10-9 against Rochester and Philadelphia in their final two preseason games. Between the pipes, Doug Jamieson will defend the cage once again coming off a season where he posted an .800 save percentage and a 10.12 goals against average.
Capital Region: Last year’s NLL runners up return all their stars this season, but their biggest offseason addition is the highly touted college star Dyson Williams, who was the first overall pick in 2023.
