Weekend Recap – Exhibition with the Calgary Roughnecks
Nov 24, 2025We closed out the final weekend of Motion Fitness Training Camp with a preview of December 6th’s Rush Nation night in our preseason exhibition against the Calgary Roughnecks. Robert Church led the way with 5 goals, but ultimately, the team fell just short with a final score of 11-10 for the Roughnecks.
GM Derek Keenan isn’t too concerned about the result, saying, “We don’t accept losing, that’s not what we’re about, but in terms of where we were 2 weeks ago, we were much better.”
Derek had some high praise for several players throughout training camp as well: “Matt Acchione has probably been our best player, I mean, he was incredible tonight.”
“We asked him to step in, take some faceoffs, and he did a really good job. He’s just a real dynamic player.”
“Julien Belair has been really good, too. He’s a pretty versatile player, and we’re asking him to play some defence now.”
“I think all of the young guys have stood out. Levi Verch has been really good all camp as well.”
As for what comes next, Derek seemed optimistic about the team.
“We have another weekend to prepare, and we will be ready in two weeks.”
Our season kicks off on December 6th with another crack at the Roughnecks. Tickets to that game are available HERE
