Bell Earns Teammate of the Year Honours

May 13, 2025

Saskatoon, SK - Saskatchewan Rush defender Keegan Bell has been named the National Lacrosse League's Teammate of the Year in 2025. The award honours a player who leads by example, gives maximum effort and supports teammates on and off the field.

Bell, a 28-year-old from Port Coquitlam, BC, has played the role of swiss army knife in his four NLL seasons.

After starting out as a forward, the 6'5 righty transitioned to defence, before one of the most shocking assignments of his lacrosse career this season.

On January 25th, due to Frank Scigliano and Laine Hruska being unavailable, Keegan Bell suited up as the Rush's backup goaltender against the Albany FireWolves.

"We had shoot around and Derek Keenan brought me into the hallway and was like, Keegs, I got a crazy story for you. And he was like, I think I'm going to need you to dress as a backup goalie here. I was obviously in complete shock, no idea what was going on," said Bell. "obviously I asked him if he was joking and he's like, no, I'm dead serious,"

In what was one of the most memorable moments of the season, Bell got to witness Thomas Kiazyk's first professional win between the pipes, while continuing to support all of his teammates on and off the floor.

"Just unbelievable. Can't believe that happened," Bell commented after his EBUG experience.

Saskatchewan is back on Co-op FIeld Sunday when the Buffalo Bandits are in town for game two on the 2025 NLL Finals presented by PlayNow. Faceoff is at 6PM and tickets can be purchased here.
